Day 20--Lake Bled....If I were to move from Twain Harte

But first, I missed including a couple of pictures from Llublijana.

This rather large vending machine is for milk.  Really fresh milk.  We asked the
lady about it a bit. She told us it is raw milk and is very good.  We asked her
if there was a cow inside the machine and she said no, the milk is cold.
As mentioned earlier, school groups everywhere, all ages.  This is the youngest group we have seen,
We designated the kids in the cart as First Class, and the kids walking behind as Economy Class.

On to Lake Bled.  This continues to be a great destination for locals and tourists alike. Ancient and recent glitterati have enjoyed this mountain destination for centuries.  It is also home to Slovenia's Olympic rowing team and, indeed, there is either a competition or trials this weekend.  Lots of activities.

Most enjoyable is Bled Island and the Church of the Assumption.  First a great place for a wedding, there was one starting while we were on the island.  Also, the 99 steps from the dock to the church is a challenge many grooms take in carrying their wife-to-be up those steps.  Alas, the bride walked up her self for this wedding.

Further, the church bell can and is rung by anyone and everyone.  We did.  You are supposed to say a wish before ringing the bell.  We didn't.  But, the result of this is that the bell rings all day long and can be heard anywhere on the lake!  We started our day with a walk around the lake.  A 3-hour affair with innumerable stops for pictures.  Beautiful.  You can't get a bad picture.
We took a rowboat to the island.  This gal took her dog on a paddleboard.

After our visit to Bled Island, we then headed up to Bled Castle.  The castle broke no new ground.  Not as developed and remodeled as the castle in Llublijana, the highlight, really, is the view of the lake.  Spectacular.
