Day 21--The Famous Bled Cream Cake

Our second day in the Lake Bled area.  Today, we hiked to 78 meters high Savica Slap.  One of the few Slovenia words we have learned is 'slap', waterfall.  A nice 553 stair hike to a Yosemite wanna-be.  Very pleasant, very green.  No river at the top, a karst cave.

A few odds and ends in the area surrounding Lake Bled

Some farms still hang their hay the old fashion way.  Lots of labor here

Bees are pretty big up here.  Not at the corporate/industrial level.
More the artistic level.  We stopped by a small 'bee festival'.

"Glamping" Slovenian style.

Gliders at the small local airport.

And finally........ The Bled Cream Cake, ta da.

12 million of these have been gobbled up in the last 60 years.  No secret recipe, but those in the know don't buy them from the local market or at their hotel, they go to the SOURCE,  the Smon Slascicarna bakery.  We did.  They were amazing.  If you like sugar, butter and cream this is for you.  You test it by moving the plate side to side quickly around an inch.  It has to 'sway', if it falls over or just sits there, you have wasted your money.  Ours wobbled gently.
