Day 15--WHAT.....60 Teslas in Zagreb?

Downtown Zegrab, some real old world charm.

First, Nikola Tesla was born and raised in Croatia, who knew?  He had some great ideas for AC electricity for Zagreb, they blew him off, he went to Thomas Edison and the rest, they say, is history.  Now, the 60 Teslas?  We happened upon the last day of 2018 Nikola Tesla EV Road Rally!  Below is a picture of 30 of them.   Pretty bug-splattered.

The website welcomes you to the "quietest and most beautiful road rally ever"!  For $5-6,000 you can rent a Tesla, drive it in the rally for about a week and stay in 5-star hotels along the way.  Food and drink are separate.  Hey, why not!

Oh, Zagreb........Beautiful city, the capital of Croatia.  The 'star attraction' is the Zagreb Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.  Since 1217 it has been built and rebuilt a couple of times.  Now, however, it is an ongoing rush to keep it from melting away!  Several hundred years ago, it was discovered that limestone that works so well in buildings with milder climates doesn't do so well in 4-seasons Zegreb.  Freeze-thaw, freeze-thaw disintegrates limestone.  Hence, there has been scaffolding around it for decades as they try to resurface it continually.

The cupola on the left is original, the one on the right is the updated version

These amazing chandeliers in the cathedral were added in the 90's.

(or Trump Towers.......)

Very helpful tourist signs.  They basically tell you that everything you want to see is to your right!
